#Piestewa Challenge

Members of wear blue: run to remember gathered at the Military Women’s Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery to honor the 177 women service members who have given their lives in combat operations around the globe. They were joined by Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough. During the last week of March, wear blue asked its community members to take up the #Piestewa Challenge of creating teams and collectively running 177 miles during the week to honor the fallen women. The challenge was named after SPC Lori Piestewa, the first female American Indian service member to be killed in combat on foreign soil, as well as the first female service member killed in Iraq.
